Chuck Schenk is a virtuoso with watercolors. His paintings capture the many moods of nature, its brilliant autumn palette, the cold bare wintry day, the warm glow of the setting sun and a myriad of other sensations that can be observed in each of his works.

His watercolor paintings are windows into the landscapes of rural and classic America, mountainous rivers and streams as well as an occasional glimpse inside rustic relics of barns and homes that are not long on futures. You'll see in his paintings most everything nature can lend to inspiration from the thundering falls and rapids of the Rockies to the tranquil sleepy fishing villages and lighthouses of New England. If you pause for a while, you can almost hear and smell the world pulsating between the deftly applied and free flowing brush strokes.

Born and raised in Chicago, Chuck worked for a time in business and sales until the age of 32. I always wanted to be an artist so at that point in my life I decided it was time to begin. In 1983 he completed 3 years of study at the American Academy of Art in Chicago with degrees in graphic design and fine arts. Chuck studied for 2 years under the tutelage of the renowned American painter, Irving Shapiro. During his tenure there Chuck twice earned national recognition by winning first place in the AMERICAN ARTIST MAGAZINE COVER COMPETITION in 1983 and second place a year earlier. Since then he has won many more honors and awards and his works are honored in many collections. Chuck is a signature (TWSA)) and life member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America.

Chuck has inspired others during his career of teaching at many Chicago art locales including, his alma mater, the American Academy of Art, Ray College of Design, Chicago Field Museum of Natural History, and outreach centers for Elgin Community College.

Chuck, now resides in Weston, Florida. Some of his works can be seen on the Internet at http://www.watercolor.ws.
