Nuernburg: An old, old town. At least that is what they want it
to appear to be. People who know claim that 90% of the town was
destroyed by WWII bombing. The buildings were rebuilt to look like the
originals as much as possible including the effects of aging and sagging
structures.Well, they did it quite convincingly. The entire
old part of town is surrounded by the castle walls where you can still
see the high platforms used by soldiers to defend the city.
Albrecht Duerer is everywhere. Little known fact. Albrecht is the
father of watercolors, the earliest known watercolor painter. My hero.
The "Little Hare" shown above is a gouache watercolor. Of course,
everyone knows his "Praying Hands".
Perhaps you remember Nuernberg as the host of the "Nuernberg
Trails" after WWII.
